UK Government plans to decarbonise the gas grid call for 40 TWh of green gas by 2050, and the Green Gas Task Force aspires to 120 TWh. Whichever number lands, more plants will be needed, and we are seeing rising demand for gas from data centres seeking faster connections than the electricity network can provide.
The largest barrier to growth in the biomethane sector, we believe, is the management and storage of digestate. For the last two years we have been running an in-house R&D programme to solve those challenges with proprietary technology, and we have committed our entire R&D budget to it for the next two years.
